This is the final design for the contents page of my magazine, I am pleased with the way the page looks, its almost exactly how I wanted it to look. I wanted to have a contents page that clearly shows where all the features of the magazine are and to really make it clear for the readers to find their pages. I didn't want to make my contents page to attractive and bold, with adverts everywhere, so I made it quite simple, adding a few pictures to demonstrate where the main stories are. I think its quite a clear and simple contents that will hopefully work well with my magazine overall. I made sure i had a big bold title which stood out making it clear it was the contents page, and I also made sure I had a simple layout that is easy to read and understand.
I'm really pleased with my final design for the magazines front cover, as I personally think it works really well with the overall magazine design. I think the text I used on the cover is clear and easy to read, you know what you are reading from the big bold title in red, and you can clearly see the other stories that the magazine holds inside. I think the magazine looks quite bold and exciting, and would make you want to read it. The photo featured will make you want to read inside and intrigue you as to what the story is actually about. I chose the two colors featured on the front cover as I think they work well together and seem to have a good contrast. Personally I'm really pleased with both my contents and front cover for my magazine. I think they work reasonably well together, and I think they would have a good chance of a sell. In the future if I have the chance to design another magazine cover I will now have a very good idea as to how to go about it, and what subjects to include. I think if I were to do this again I would probably spend a little more time on the contents page and try and make it have some more comparisons to my front page. Other than this I'm pleased with the final result and will look forward to designing more magazine covers in the future.

flat plan

I designed my contents page in this way as i think it is probably the best, simplest way of laying out your contents, its really easy for anyone to read, as it is well spaced out and clearly states what section is where. I find that sometimes a magazines contents page can be quite confusing with to much going on, with images everywhere, so i really wanted to keep mine plain and straight forward. I made sure i had a big title so people know instantly it is the contents page. I felt however the page did need more than just the page numbers so I included some photos of the main issues the magazine is dealing with. To really highlight what the headlines are. I'm really pleased with how my contents turned out and I think it works well with the general idea of the magazine.
For the front cover i really wanted it to stand out, have a simple message and really make people want to pick it up and have a look. I'm pleased with what i came up with, i do like the title of my magazine, and the general layout i think is quite good. Its clear and simple to read the headlines and the main stories, which was a bit aspect i wanted to include in my cover. I tried to include almost everything a normal magazine would include, like a big bold title, the issue number and other main sells. I think i have just about achieved this look I was going for. I chose the title 'College collective' as I think its quite original and will hopefully stand out and grab peoples attention. I think the layout works well ands will hopefully look good after I have finally completed it properly.

Photo

These are a few of the photos i have taken for my magazine cover, I took a the photos of Joe and decided to use the one on the left for a number of reasons, firstly my headline is going to be about the boy who has said yes to knife crime, so I wanted the photo to look quite serious, and for the model to be looking really angry and mean, as if you wouldn't ever want to mess with this man. I think I achieved the desired effect, which I am pleased about. I also made sure I have a plain white background, as it makes Joe stand out more, and you are not distracted by anything going on in the background. Another reason for choosing this shot was because of the positioning, luckily Joe is centered right in the middle of the photo, which is just what i wanted. I decided against the photo on the right for many reasons, firstly Joe is not centered in the shot, he is standing to one side, unfortunately this really doesn't work and doesn't match the look I was going for. Also the pose that Joe is doing isn't right for the headline, he just doesn't look at all angry or mean. I am pleased with these photos and I think the one i have decided to choose will work well for my magazine.
